The women are drawn from eight common initiative groups and have been given various materials which include wheelbarrows, barrows and grinding mills.
They have received a one year intensive training on methods of cultivating, processing and commercializing their agricultural products.
The efforts of the farmers are being supported through a project known as, ‘Amplification of economic and social autonomisation of internally displaced women from the North West and South West regions of Cameroon through various trainings’.
It was sponsored entirely by Canada, from its inception in 2023.
Later on, the project was co-funded by Dynamic Femmes, which is in charge of three of the beneficiary common initiative groups.
During the ceremony to hand over the items, the president of Dynamic Femmes, Claudine Siewe saluted the efforts of members of her organization toward the acquisition of parcels of land and following up the farming groups, which she described as daunting tasks.
Canada’s High Commissioner to Cameroon, Lorraine Anderson who was present during the ceremony to hand over the agric inputs, encouraged the women to put their knowledge into practice, and step up their efforts so as to increase productivity.
